That is training for Herb Voigt (23), the long distance swimmer whose distance exploits have brought him to the attention of police and surf lifesavers. His Garden Island swim on Sunday was a prelude to a mainland-to-Rottnest attempt.
|
Mr Voigt spent the previous night at a Perth nightclub and because of this took the first mile "a bit quiet" but finished the swim fit though tired. Mr Voigt's offshore swimming exploits have upset police and lifesavers in recent months, but the big German swimmer |
has been a dedicated long distance swimmer since he was 15. Mr Voigt is confident of making the mainland-to-Rottnest swim. "If I don't, I suppose I'll be breakfast or dinner for some shark," he said. "If I want to do something I'll do it." | ||
