Mallacoota is a small town with a population of around 1500, situated 500 km east of Melbourne. During summer and Easter the population grows to around 10,000 as people flock to the coast. Mallacoota SLSC was established in 2001 and is in need of any old equipment that is not in use by other clubs. As Club Secretary, Jane Colbert says " Lifesaving is a valuable service for our community. It gives our children and teenagers direction in the summertime. However, our equipment is very limited to two rescue boards and three tubes. We are trying to organise Nippers for the first time this year, but have very little Nippers equipment. The enthusiasm is building with the kids and teenagers, but because we have only a small amount of equipment they have to stand on the beach and wait their turn and are becoming a bit discouraged. If there is anyone who is holidaying in Mallacoota over the summer, we would love to hear from them, because at the moment we have only enough people to provide one patrol. We can be contacted on 03 5158 0691 or jalaac@bigpond.com.au." | |||||
